Gauhati University scholar sheds light on Assam's rich migration history
Prof. Dwipen Bezbaruah, a renowned anthropologist and researcher from Gauhati University, discussed Assam's population composition as a history of migration during the Prof. Arun Chandra Das Memorial Annual Lecture. He emphasized how diverse people from around the world migrated to Assam over centuries, integrating into its culture. He noted that modern laws and the Indian Constitution have recognized these diverse groups. Bezbaruah also explored population dynamics in Assam, linking anthropology and political science in his talk at Dakshin Kamrup College.
