Odisha govt withholds salary of college principals, clerks for negligence in discharging duty

The higher education department has halted the salaries of 233 principals and clerk heads/clerks at non-government-assisted colleges in Orissa. Despite reminders, the colleges failed to provide information on their teaching and non-teaching staff to the department. Officials have warned the colleges' lack of compliance with instructions shows "gross negligence in discharging government duty." The college salaries will now be withheld until the information is provided, impacting those in all 30 Orissa districts with Cuttack in the lead with 24 colleges on the defaulting list.
