CBSE felt it was unjustified to declare merit list with varied combination of subjects

For the fourth year in a row, the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) did not publish the merit list for class X and XII board exams. CBSE made the decision to cancel the merit list during the COVID-19 pandemic as it uses the average marks students attained in the exams. This move is also intended to end unhealthy competition among students.
